When can residents receive visitors?

The home chosen by our residents is THEIR home, so of course they can receive visitors at any time they choose. We like to think that most visitors will avoid mealtimes – when residents will be occupied – however those staying with us may choose to invite friends or relatives to join them for lunch from time to time. Each Home Manager is always glad to discuss these options.

Do residents really receive all the attention they require?

Each of our homes has a dedicated and committed Registered Manager, who is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is responsible for ensuring that our services are of the highest quality. Our staff are monitored to ensure that every resident’s need as an individual is met properly. Because Managers are regulated by the CQC, inspectors call at the home unannounced to check how things are being managed, and each of our homes is also subject to our own rigorous internal Quality Assurance policy and processes. We commission independent external advisors to check that the home is being run as it should be, and that each of our residents is happy with the service they receive.

What is the policy regarding pets?

We welcome pets to our homes, subject to the agreement of other residents who already live there (thus ensuring that everyone has a say in such matters). All care and expenses associated with looking after each pet will remain the responsibility of the owner.

What training and development do staff receive?

All our staff undertake rigorous training in the delivery of Health and Social Care services. Many are qualified to levels 2 or 3 in the NVQ Health and Social Care Award, and our annual training programme includes training and refresher training in First Aid / Food Hygiene and other areas associated with all areas of the care we deliver. Our nursing team are qualified RGN grade staff who have strong experience levels and are committed to meeting residents’ individual needs.

Do you have any homes that offer respite/convalescent care?

Yes, we offer this service at all of our homes. Just contact the Home Manager for details.

How much does care cost in your care / nursing home?

Our care fees vary from home to home, and are based on each individual’s care needs. This may mean that a resident is paying more (or less) than the person in the room next to them, receiving a service to meet their higher (or lower) care needs. Each of our fee levels is based on a personalised assessment of individual needs, which we will be happy to carry out at no charge before residents decide which home is right for them.

Whatever fee is developed with residents, they will receive a comprehensive agreement which sets out the level of fee involved and what this covers each week.

My father is under 65 and is recovering from a stroke, could he go into a care home?

Yes. Most of our homes are able to accept people from the age of 55 upwards – others do have specific age restrictions – and we will be happy to advise on which service would be best for any individual. If we are not the best service for your needs, we will gladly point you in the direction of another service which we feel is more suitable.

Do you provide care for people in their own home?

Yes – please click here to see details of this service.

Why does care cost so much?

Our weekly care fees have to cover the full cost of meeting each resident’s care needs. They may be able to receive support from a local Social Services Team or Health Service, and we will be pleased to advise on this – just contact us to discuss.

Our weekly fees also include the costs associated with:

  • All meals
  • Laundry
  • Personal care
  • Safety
  • Nursing care if this is required
  • A regular programme of activities and outings (some additional charges may apply to cover transport etc, but staff time to accompany residents on such outings is included in most cases.)
